Fashion Week continues to flourish and BLF is in on the fun! This weekend found me in Chelsea for Storefront & RePopRoom’s Fashion that Pops champagne brunch!
Showcasing 6 emerging brands, FTP brought together influencers, tastemakers and fashionistas for a morning of fashion, art, home decor and innovative food. Creative bites were courtesy of Chef Jordan Andino and LushCakez and featured tasty fusions of flavors such as the chef’s candied bacon sushi, which he enthusiastically exclaimed had been a creation thought up that morning!
Guests were treated to a variety of champagne concoctions upon arrival and were encouraged to sample the savory assortments and pick from the cake pop tree. Lining the walls of the cozy loft space were designs by Vincetta, Ilana Kohn and more, with music pumping throughout the space courtesy of Soundwall.
Fashion that Pops was a welcome oasis to the fast-paced shows that define Fashion Week. I hope to see more events from the collaboration, and definitely will be using StoreFront in the future!
The return of summer temperatures did not stop the Glam as fashionistas and socialites convened for the second annual Plus Night Out!
Sponsored by Ashley Stuart, Ideel, Sidney’s Closet and more, PNO brought together designers, stylists, fashion’s elite and fashion enthusiasts for a night of networking, cocktails, fun and fashion. Guests were treated to signature sangrias upon arrival, where they were encouraged to take pictures on the red carpet, and gift bags from Sidney’s Closet awaited them once they were seated.
The evening continued with a showcase from houses like Qristyl Frazier Designs , Seven Curves by John Marc and Jill Alexander Designs. Capping off the evening’s excitement was the announcement of the PNO Model Search, Miss Wema Enofe! Miss Enofe wins a $500 prize as well as representation for the year.
All in all it was a fun time, and it was great seeing everyone from Full-Figured Fashion Week (which I TOTALLY cannot wait for)! Plus Night Out had a big turnout and put together a solid set of presentations. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year!
*BLF will be covering quite a bit this season, so look out for links to my other articles or pop over to my Instagram to view the fun!
Festivals, premiers and award shows, oh my!! The ladies gave us all sorts of inspiration for our next rooftop event with their red-carpet ensembles last week. Scroll for my faves!
Laura Govan slayed this hard-to-pull-off silk jumpsuit at Russell Simmons’s All Def Comedy Jam. Sleek hair, gold sandals and minimal accessories completed the look.
Tatiana Ali paired this summer’s soft pant trend with a fitted blazer and a pop of color in her crop top and heels at the New York premiere of Comeback Dad. I just copped a pair from NY & Co and I can’t wait to see how many fun ways I can wear them!
I have no idea what red carpet this is. I just love Dascha Polanco.
And rounding out the crop of red-carpet stunners is Adrienne Bailon in a Costello Couture frock at the BET Awards! Love, love love the silhouette!
What have been your favorite looks so far this week?
January starts off awards season, and I for one can’t wait for the fun! The glitter, glamour and pageantry were on full-force at last night’s People’s Choice Awards. While it may be an appetizer in awards-season fashion, the girls brought their A-game.
My favorite look of the night hands-down wasn’t even up for an award! Rocsi, er…’rocked’ her look, bringing a much-needed punch of color to an otherwise neutral-filled evening. While I believe she’d have benefitted better from a black or nude sandal, her hair and makeup worked beautifully with the fun, flirty tone of her dress.
Jessica Alba worked the winter white in her Jason Wu frock. Casadei pumps and a subtle smoky eye rounded out the look. While I usually am a bit disappointed with her far too ‘safe’ fashion choices for her knockout frame, I loved this combo!
While Naya Rivera rarely makes a misstep on the red carpet, I’m not totally loving her Michael Kors ensemble. It is just a one-two combo of too much neutral between the dress, hair and makeup. I would have liked to see that dress in a bolder color like blue, and more color around the eye area to balance all that hair. And, while her Stuart Weitzman sandals are to die for, I’d have loved her look more if she traded shoes with Rocsi!
While this wasn’t a pull-out-all-the-stops kind of night, I loved how appropriately light and elegant the looks were. What were your favorite looks of the evening?
Fall is officially here, and that means new looks, new hair and new fashion! This season the jumpsuit is back in a big way, and this versatile, easy-to-style look-in-one look is on my must-have list. Lets take a peek at how some of my fave Latinas styled the trend:
Meagan Good kept it simple at Elle’s 20th-Annual Women of Hollywood Celebration and let her newly shorn tresses do the talking (loove!!). A simple red lip and cat-eye complimented her take on the fall trend.
With rarely a misstep on the red carpet, Naya Rivera also rocked a white jumpsuit for the Elle Event, showing just the right amount of skin (and a hint of her enviabe abs). unlike Meagan, Rivera chose to rock some serious bling on her neck and keep her hair away from her flawlessly nude face.
Christina Millian isn’t letting a little thing like her recent elimination from Dancing With the Stars slow her down, as she sported a seriously stylish jumpsuit to promote her Diva Viva Wines. Giving us yet another twist on the deep v-neck that has taken over the season, Millian opted to keep it daytime-friendly with a mesh insert at the neck. A statement belt and platform sandals rounded out her sassy ensemble.
And finally, Joan Smalls dares us to “go hard or go home” with her deep-plunging jumsuit. Flaunting her lithe frame in a look almost none of us could pull off, Smalls went almost accessory-free and kept her hair and makeup simple. Covet-worthy gladiators complete her daring take.
So how about you? Will you be trying out the jumsuit this season? What have your favorite looks been so far?
