StyleWatch: Looks of the Week

Sure it’s Tuesday, but style waits for no one! With consistent warm weather finally in for the season it seems skin is back in-in more ways than one!

Rosario Dawson let it hang at the Cannes Film Festival this past weekend, letting her “Sin City” shaved cut lead her to an edgier, punchy style. Taking a risk with peplum and mixed prints, Rosario somehow manages to pull it all together and make it look effortless.

Rocsi Diaz continues her red-carpet rule with this simple number from Cushnie et Ochs at the Billboard Music Awards. The cut-out trend seems to be here to stay, and Rocsi has been taking advantage of it at every turn. Please excuse me as I grumble through this workout.

And finally, Adriana Lima shows Marko what he’s missing at the Cannes Film Festival with this stunning two-piece. Need I say more?

What have been your favorite trends so far this season?

Out & About; BLF at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic!

I’m too sexy for this heat…

Last year they braved the rain and this year a little thing like 90+ degree temperatures weren’t stopping the stars from coming out to mingle at the 6th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic! Nacho Figueras was joined this year by Matthew McConaughey to host the famed charity event, with a portion of this years’ proceeds slated to assist host location Liberty State Park with post-Sandy reconstruction. Yours’ truly joined the ‘commoners’ on the general grounds while VIP’s enjoyed the polo match under cool umbrellas.  Food trucks and vintage Veuve Cliquot selections were new additions this year.

Check out my photo album for all the fun!

Spring may have just started to show its face but the ladies are bringing the heat to the newsstands! Check out all the features below:

Naya Rivera steams up Allure’s “nude” issue yet somehow manages to look perfectly normal sitting poolside. I wonder what would happen If I tried it?

Rosario Dawson showed off her gorgeous gams (and a new edgier look-is that a shaved head I see?) in the upcoming issue of GQ Magazine. I’m getting a major Ohmyra Mota vibe from this shoot! With “Sin City 2” in theaters soon I doubt this is the last (or least?) we’ll see of Rosario.

And finally “The Voice” social correspondent Christina Millian dazzles in an array of swimwear looks for Cosmo Latina. Work it, chica!!

Um…anyone else feel a sudden urge to hit the gym? Just me? Oh….

Moda Por Menos- Inauguration Style!

Barack Obama, Michelle Obama

The pomp and pageantry was on full tilt for the Inauguration of our 44th President’s second term. With all of the awe-inspiring “firsts” out of the way, we get to highlight what everyone wants to talk about- the fashion! From balls to lunches, processions to award ceremonies, both pundits and Hollywood elite made a statement and showed off their signature style. While us mere mortals do not have inexhaustible access to Pucci, Wu and Louboutin, why should they have all the fun? Let’s see how we can make their signature looks more accessible, shall we?

Being a pageant girl, this is always my favorite to watch! This Inauguration saw complete opposites taking center stage: on one end intricate designs featuring paneling and burnouts, and on the other simple silhouettes using jersey fabric and solid colors.

Both Michelle Obama and Beyonce Knowles went the ornate route using detailing and burnouts to accent their silhouettes. The First Lady stunned in Jason Wu opting to let the dress shine with simple accents:

While Mrs. Knowles-Carter opted for full-on Texas style with a Pucci dress accented with Lorraine Schwartz Emeralds and big hair.

To emulate FLOTUS’ gorgeous patterns I turned to an eveningwear standby of mine Adian Mattox. This dress offers the same silhouette and metallic accents in a dress that can be used for both daytime and evening events (CLICK HERE to snag it for yourself):

While both Jovani and Adian Mattox offer options for Beyonce’s stunning look:

On the other end, entertainment mavens opted for dresses with solid colors and simple details. Alicia Keys wowed in this Michael Kors gown and let her back do the talking;

While Eva Longoria hosted the Latino Inaugural 2013 at The Kennedy Center in simple yet stunning Vivienne Westwood;

Jovani offers a similar backless gown with a hint of sparkle for a fraction of the price:

While LaFemme gives you the strapless style with a few extra accents:

And let’s not forget the daytime style! The lovely ladies again brought their A-game in stylish-yet-tasteful cocktail attire. The First Lady wowed in Reed Krakoff for POTUS’ Sunday swearing-in:

While Rosario Dawson and Eva Longoria rocked their frocks while highlighting achievements in the Latino Community:

Elie Tahari provides an appropriate alternative for Mrs. Obama’s A-line frock:

While Asos and Venus help us out with Rosario’s and Eva’s looks!

Now, all we need are some er…”occasions”!!

Those were my favorite looks, what were yours?

StyleWatch; This Week in Street Style

It’s only Tuesday and our girls have been busy! A few highlights from this week’s coming and goings:

Dania Ramirez attended the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in LA and opted for relaxed denim, glamming it up a bit with a halo french braid. Can anyone tell me who makes those adorable espadrilles? Fab!

America Fererra showed off her street style at the Glamour Presents “These Girls” Event at Joe’s Pub in NYC (with Olivia Wilde). I’m really loving that “fresh faces” are coming back, I wasn’t into the overly sculpted & heavily eyebrowed faces of this spring & summer.

Rosario Dawson kept it corporate at the announcement of the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument by President Obama in California. Her hair and skin are positively glowing!

Super-mom Actress Garcelle Beauvais stocked up on Halloween pumpkins at the Mr Bones Pumpkin patch in Hollywood.

Yeah, it’s not “street style’, but its Sessilee Lopez and I love her, so there. Here she channels Aaliyah for ‘Block‘ Magazine. Imitation never looked so flattering.

What have been your favorite looks this week so far?
