Summer is almost halfway over, but the day parties, rooftop cocktails and backyard BBQ’s are still going strong! With six weeks (including the birthday of yours truly) left till Labor Day I thought it would be a great time to do a MPM for some summer inspiration-and luckily BLF fave ASOS was here to help out! Scroll below for our guide to this seasons trends courtesy of ASOS’ newest addition NEW LOOK:
Bold mixed and tribal prints are showing up everywhere, and Rocsi totally WERKS this look! She lets her top do the talking by keeping her accessories neutral (plus, what else do you need to say when your legs look like THAT), and pairing it with denim cutoffs. You can turn heads at your next house party with this mixed print top (click pictures for links):
White on white never goes out of style for summer, and Adrienne Bailon makes it pop by mixing textures (can I pause for a second to pay homage to Adrienne’s makeup artist? She STAYS flawless). Keep it simple at your next rooftop date (or in my case, an all-white birthday) with this crochet-accented dress:
Bailon again takes us to this summer’s love of prints by remixing it on bodycon dresses! There’s a day party in your future, and you know there’s someone you want to impress but not appear you’re trying too hard, so slip on one of these numbers with metallic sandals and pair with beach-y waves for effortless chic.
And last but not least, Rocsi shows us how it’s done when you have a hot summer date with a dare-to-wear cutout dress!
They’ve found a way to put a slit, hole or illusion panel in almost every article of clothing it seems this summer, and I have to say…I’m not that brave. So I found a cutout dress I can deal with:
Pair with a pop-of-color shoe and a bright lip and that’s all the bold I need!
Last year they braved the rain and this year a little thing like 90+ degree temperatures weren’t stopping the stars from coming out to mingle at the 6th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic! Nacho Figueras was joined this year by Matthew McConaughey to host the famed charity event, with a portion of this years’ proceeds slated to assist host location Liberty State Park with post-Sandy reconstruction. Yours’ truly joined the ‘commoners’ on the general grounds while VIP’s enjoyed the polo match under cool umbrellas. Food trucks and vintage Veuve Cliquot selections were new additions this year.
As the temperatures rise and the blockbuster season heats up, our favorite ladies are bringing the heat as well- on the red carpet and out on the street! Below are some of my favorite looks from last week:
Michelle Rodriguez struck a rare girly pose at the Seoul premiere of Fast & the Furious 6. She let her toned figure do the talking in a bandage maxi dress with minimal hair and makeup. A bit too minimal if you ask me, but it IS Michelle and she has to keep it real somewhere!
Jessica Alba took advantage of the spring weather finally showing its face and stunned in a belted jumpsuit. Hubby Cash Warren and their girls joined her for a Mother’s Day Brunch in Bel-Air. I love everything about this look, and have really been impressed with her grown-woman style since launching The Honest Company.
Zoe Saldana stopped by the set of Extra to promote her latest movie, Star Trek (if you haven’t seen it by the way, get. Your. Ticket. NOW.). The busy actress kept it dainty yet casual pairing white shorts with a floaty top and her signature red lips.
I don’t know about you, but I’m getting some major summer inspiration! What have been some of your favorite looks so far?
With award shows, industry parties, launches and more, the ladies did not dissapoint! Check out these notable looks from last week:
Fashion Bomb Daily (one of my FAVORITE style spotter blogs, by the way!) debated Evelyn Lozada’s combo of a midi-dress and wedge sneakers with their readers. Photogs spotted her filming parts of the next season of Basketball Wives with show creator Shaunie O’Neal. What do you think? I ‘ve been sporting the wedge sneaker look for years and have never thought of pairing it with a bodycon dress, but seeing how cute Ev looked in it I may try it!
Nicole Ritchie continued her trend of wearing simple, yet rediculously expensive looks at the ELLE Women in Television Celebration last week. Here she flaunts her Tracy Anderson-toned arms and gams in a $2,656 (!!!) Azzedine Alaia dress. Sideote- Ritchie has really stepped it up since releasing her line, and I LOVE the extra muscle tone on her. Props for doing it the right way!
Naya Rivera redeemed leather looks (remember J-Lo’s head-to-toe leather?) last week at the Entertainment Weekly Pre-SAG party. I need this girl’s stylist to call me. She has been on fire with her style choices. Do not be surprised if I make a Naya Rivera lookbook!
“The Voice”: social media correspondent and super-mom Christina Milian turned heads in South Beach with a low-cut swimsuit and questionable box braids. I’m not a big fan of the unfinished ends look, but to each his own. She looks radiant!
That’s my favorite of the week! I haven’t been particularly blown away by the formal awards looks this season but hopefully the Academy’s will pick it up! I have my gown and champagne ready!
It’s only Tuesday and our girls have been busy! A few highlights from this week’s coming and goings:
Dania Ramirez attended the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in LA and opted for relaxed denim, glamming it up a bit with a halo french braid. Can anyone tell me who makes those adorable espadrilles? Fab!
America Fererra showed off her street style at the Glamour Presents “These Girls” Event at Joe’s Pub in NYC (with Olivia Wilde). I’m really loving that “fresh faces” are coming back, I wasn’t into the overly sculpted & heavily eyebrowed faces of this spring & summer.
Rosario Dawson kept it corporate at the announcement of the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument by President Obama in California. Her hair and skin are positively glowing!
Super-mom Actress Garcelle Beauvais stocked up on Halloween pumpkins at the Mr Bones Pumpkin patch in Hollywood.
Yeah, it’s not “street style’, but its Sessilee Lopez and I love her, so there. Here she channels Aaliyah for ‘Block‘ Magazine. Imitation never looked so flattering.
